Mom and Dad, together and smiling towards each other

You won't believe this story.

At 4:15am, AJ walked into the room to find my dad lying in his bed. He noticed bees in the lounge, kitchen, and in dad's bedroom. All calm, posing no threat. There were easily 100 throughout the house. This had never happened in all the time they had lived there.

The bees then followed my dad into the van as they took him. AJ even said, “I hope you will be able to drive with all the bees.” As he went back into the house, he noticed 2 bees remained.

A strange coincidence, unique and even unbelievable.

When you look into the history and folklore behind this type of situation:

Bees appearing in a house after a death are often viewed as messengers from the spirit realm, symbolising the soul, communication from the departed, or a comforting sign of resurrection and transformation. Historically, these visitors represent positive omens, such as blessings, good fortune, or the industrious spirit of a loved one.

Bees were considered intermediaries between the physical world and the afterlife, conveying messages between the living and the deceased. Because of their association with nature's cycles, bees often represent the immortality of the soul and the continuation of life in another form.

Many interpret a lone bee, particularly one that acts calmly, as a comforting sign that a recently departed loved one is at peace and watching over the household. Folklore often mentions “telling the bees” about a death to keep them connected to the family and to signify a message delivered from the other side. Their presence may reflect the hard work, love, and unity of the family.

This is my interpretation of the situation:

My father lost the love of his life when my mother died. He loved her deeply, completely, and faithfully. When she passed, his world changed forever. He continued to live, but he never stopped missing her. Every day, every year, he spoke about her. He carried her in his heart for the rest of his life.

Even through that grief, he lived for his family. Everything he did was for the people he loved. He showed his love through action, sacrifice, work, and quiet devotion. He was always giving, always carrying, always providing. In that way, he was like a worker bee: steady, selfless, and always serving those he loved.

When he died, the bees came to him. They entered his home calmly and peacefully. They came into the bedroom where he lay, and into the lounge and kitchen where he had spent so much of his life. The house did not feel chaotic. It felt still, full, divine, and touched by something beyond ordinary explanation.

When they carried him from the house into the van, the bees followed him. To me, this was not random. This was a sign. I believe they came for him. I believe my mother came for him. I believe the souls of those who loved him were there too, gently carrying him home.

His love for my mother was only ever interrupted for a time. Now it is restored. He no longer has to long for the life they could not continue together here. He is with her again. He is at peace. And while we grieve and miss him deeply, we know that he has gone to the one he loved most, and that he is home.

The two remaining bees symbolise my parents. My mom and my dad are now at peace and still watching over us.
